South Pointe Park and its waterfront

South Pointe Park and its waterfront

South Pointe Park pairs waterfront access with play areas and outdoor facilities in Miami Beach’s South Beach neighborhood.

At 1 Washington Avenue, the park has beach access, seating, a water fountain, public restrooms near the concession and paid parking. Its playground areas are for ages 2–5 and 5–12, with slides, climbing elements, play panels and a splash zone. Outdoor fitness equipment is also available.

The City of Miami Beach gives the park’s hours as sunrise to sunset daily. If you’re visiting with a dog, off-leash use is limited to the designated area during sunrise–10 a.m. and 4:30–8 p.m. Dogs may be off leash only within that area.

Manual beach wheelchairs are available free on a first-come, first-served basis. Call 305-673-7714 to confirm availability; checking one out requires a refundable item of value. The chairs can enter water up to 6 inches deep, are not self-propelled and need someone to assist the user.

Miami Beach Botanical Garden

Miami Beach Botanical Garden

Miami Beach Botanical Garden is a three-acre garden established in 1962, with free admission and pathways described as ADA-compliant.

The garden is at 2000 Convention Center Drive, Miami Beach, FL 33139. Its hours are given as Tuesday–Sunday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m.; it is closed on major holidays. Check the garden’s official site before planning your visit.

All pathways are described as ADA-compliant, though some sections have elevation changes, uneven terrain or natural stone pavers. Wheelchairs are available at no cost at the Garden Visitor Center; you’ll need a photo ID and credit card to check one out.

Leashed pets and service animals are welcome. Picnics are allowed on lawns and in designated table areas, while bikes, skates, skateboards and other wheeled recreational devices are prohibited. Street parking and nearby garages are available; with garden validation, parking in the Convention Center Garage costs $2 per hour.

North Beach Oceanside Park

North Beach Oceanside Park

North Beach Oceanside Park offers open space, beach access and recreation facilities in Miami Beach’s North Beach neighborhood.

The park is at 79th–86th Streets and Collins Avenue. The City describes the larger park area as nearly 28 acres, between 79th and 87th Streets along Collins Avenue and the Beachwalk. Facilities include perimeter parking, a water fountain, bench seating, beach access and public restrooms at the pavilions. The park’s hours are sunrise to sunset daily.

For active time outdoors, there’s a playground for ages 5–12 and fitness stations along the interior path from 82nd to 85th Street. Dogs have a bark park and bark beach. Three rental pavilions are available Monday–Sunday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m.; setup and cleanup fall within the four-hour rental period. Confirm current rental details with the City.

Choosing a park and checking access

Choose South Pointe for a waterfront visit, the botanical garden for a garden setting, or North Beach Oceanside Park for open space and facilities beside the beach.

For a visit centered on playgrounds, South Pointe has play areas for ages 2–5 and 5–12, while North Beach’s playground is for ages 5–12. For a garden visit, the Botanical Garden is free, with hours that span Tuesday–Sunday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m.

If wheelchair access is a priority, the garden describes all pathways as ADA-compliant, with some uneven or changing terrain; South Pointe offers manual beach wheelchairs with assistance requirements.

Miami Beach’s park system includes over 40 parks and facilities. A one-day Miami Beach route from the waterfront to Lincoln Road can help you place a park visit within a wider day out.
